The Adventures of Ellie and Fang
First story: New Town, New House, and a New Friend

It was raining very hard as my family and I drove into the new town toward the new house we were moving into. Everyone else in my family especially my sister Sam had started to complain when the clouds that had darkened the skies throughout our journey to the new town had finally let loose the rain that had been threatening. I on the other hand felt that Mother Nature was reading my mind showing the thoughts I'd been feeling about moving ever since my parents had told Sam and I about it. But before I go on about how I wasn't looking forward to moving I think that it would be polite of me to introduce myself, my name is Ellie Jakenson. Actually that's not my whole name but that's what I prefer being called, anyway I'm six years old, I have green eyes, and finally I have blonde hair which I always have two little pig tails in. Now as I was saying before about how I wasn't looking forward to moving to this new house in a whole new town where I didn't know a single person. I was especially upset about moving because I had finally managed to get a few girls from my kindergarten class to stop thinking I was weird to the point where they actually sat by me and might have even been considering talking to me.
"Oh Ellie stop being so dramatic sweet heart, I know you're upset because you finally managed to get those girls to sit by you but you'll make new friends in this town you'll see sweetheart." My mother said when I sighed heavily for the millionth time as I watched the falling rain from my window sighing harder when I heard my sister's snort like laugh from beside me knowing she had a rude comment as usual.
"Yes Samantha is there something you wanted to say?" my mother said in a way that was obviously warning my sister to watch it which of course she failed to notice.
"I don't know why the little weirdo is so upset it's not like they were going to miss her or that anyone in the old town will miss her, unless you count those old people she used to talk to which I don't because they still won't miss her." Sam said as I balled up my fist but continued to look out my car window knowing she was purposely trying to upset me and that commenting back wouldn't do any good.
"Samantha don't call your sister weird for one and two the elderly people that Ellie used to talk to were really upset when I told them we were moving, so I'd say that Ellie has people in the old town that will miss her." My mother said sternly as my sister snort laughed again interrupting before she could be warned again by either parent.
"Yeah they're going to miss her because they're obviously weird like her; no normal person would ever…" Sam started before my dad gave her a warning look through the rear view mirror.
"What it's not my fault that no one likes the little…" Sam started up again before having my dad interrupted.
"Samantha Louise Jakenson that's enough, apologize to your sister or the minute we've unpacked in your room whether things are in their proper place or not you'll be grounded, mind it won't take long to unpack your things considering you didn't have very much to pack and we've just arrived at the house." My dad said as Sam's eyes widened in terror and she gave me a quick insincere apology which I took despite knowing my parents would make her give me a better one because I knew she'd hurt me latter when she had to watch me while our parents weren't around.
"Alright girls it's time to get out, Ellie dear you can find a place to relax while the rest of us unpack." Mom said as she opened the car door for me as Sam gave mom an indignant look as she exited out of the car.
"How come she doesn't have to unpack, that is so unfair!" Sam said with the annoying whine she always used when not getting her way.
"Because Samantha your sister is six and can't lift heavy objects like us, you're fourteen you're going to help us unpack!" mom said in an annoyed way as I gulped sensing an oncoming argument between the two in which I wanted no part in.
"Daddy is okay if I look around the house please?" I asked receiving a nod and a pat on the head before I quickly ran off before the argument could begin.
My new house was a bit plain or at least it seemed like it to me, I love colors which is why I wear and collect things that have color on them and why the purely white house seemed so plain. Even the inside was dull plus the fact that there was no furniture in the house yet made it even worse, the walls of the house were a dull peach color even in my room which I made a mental note of so I could tell my mother about in order to get her help me paint it as soon as possible because there was no way I'd be able to sleep in a boring colored room. Wandering around the house took a lot longer than I had thought because the house was pretty big and before I knew it was time for dinner, the stuff that had been in the moving truck was all unpacked in places where my parents could set things up as they pleased. I had to hide for a moment in my room as Sam stormed up the stairs slamming the door to her room after having apparently been grounded after all because she had thrown a fit and not help unpack like she'd been told to.

Before my mother put me to bed after we had our late dinner I made sure to tell her that I thought we should paint the house both inside and out but especially my room which to my joy she agreed to even though she doesn't like colors as much as me, my joy however was short lived when my mom told me that we'd have to wait till after my first day of school the next day because she had to work that day.
"Momma do I really have to start the first grade tomorrow, can't I start late like Sam did?" I asked getting less of a warning look than Sam had but still enough to make me shiver slightly.
"I'm only telling the truth momma, I'm not trying to be mean about it really." I said giving my mom my most innocent look so she'd stop giving me "the look".
"Yes I know Ellie but you're well…so much different than your sister Sam in such a good way, so yes my little Ellie you have to go to school tomorrow." Mom said as I sighed sadly as she kissed my forehead gently.
Sadly the next morning after I'd eaten breakfast my mother remembered what she'd said the night before and as soon as I was properly dressed she said I had to go. To my horror since my school was further away from my parents work than Sam's was Sam got a ride to her school whilst I had to take the bus. Riding the bus is probably one of the worst tortures that a parent can make a child go through or at least I think so because I find buses stinky and bumpy, on the plus side I was very impressed with my school because it was so big. Much to my disappointment though as soon as I got off the bus into the "drop off zone" a teacher came up to me asking what grade I was in. Once I'd told her I as said before to my disappointment was told that first through third graders were in the smaller building of the school and weren't allowed into the bigger building without permission.
"Why can't we go into the big part of the school without permission ma'am?" I asked the teacher as she escorted me into the smaller building down stairs making me feel like I was in a dungeon or something as she led me to my class.
"Because young lady that building is for the older kids besides it's so big you could get lost, but now young lady you better get into your classroom or your teacher Ms Jones will be angry at both of us." The teacher who'd escorted me said with a pretty laugh making me less nervous.
"Thank you ma'am I really appreciate it." I said politely getting a chuckle.
"You're welcome young lady my name is Miss Noel I'm the third grade teacher, now go before you're late." Ms Noel said as I opened the door to the classroom allowing other kids to go before me.
"I'm Ellie, it was nice to meet you ma'am." I said waving before I went my classroom
"Young lady next time you come into the room you had better make it to a seat before the bell rings or I'll send you to the principal's office, just because you're new to this town and school doesn't mean that you be treated different from other kids that break my rules understand young lady." Ms Jones said in a shrill birdlike voice that hurt my ears.
"Yes ma'am I understand, I won't be late again." I whispered with a sniff when a few kids in the front of the room laughed.
"Good, now since you're new I want you to introduce yourself to the class and use your whole name so I can put it in my records." Ms Jones as I looked her in horror.
"Do I have to use my full name, can't I give you my last named and tell you what I'm called for short?" I asked feeling even less happy when she glared at me.
"If you don't want to do as you're told I'll be more then happy to send you to the office." Ms Jones said as tears formed in my eyes sniffing as the same kids laughed again.
"No ma'am I'll do it, I'm sorry." I said politely as the kids in the front continued to laugh.
"Good now hurry up we don't have all day to wait for you to introduce yourself, also tell us about yourself but try to hurry because ad I said we don't have all day." Ms Jones said in a rude way as I sniffed standing tall so the class could see me as I introduced myself.
"Hello every body my name is Elliana Marie Jakenson but I like being called Ellie, I like colors and animals including..." I started but getting interrupted by Ms Jones.
"That's enough Elliana now go sit, now then class pull out you're math books and will work on pages one through five today." Ms Jones said shooing me into a seat in the front next to the mean student as everyone pulled their books out.
Luckily for me I'd already done the pages assigned and decided to color, I had to tell Ms Jones that I'd done already when she saw me coloring and had to hide my pleasure when she stormed away in annoyance clearly upset she couldn't yell at me for not doing what I was supposed to. Throughout the rest of the period all I did was color being the only one done with the math work until finally the bell rang for lunch.

Another thing I learned to enjoy rather quickly was the fact that those who'd brought their own lunches that didn't have class work were able to go outside and eat and then play which of course I happily did as soon as I'd finished, my fun however was short live when the mean kids from before came over to the swing I was on.
"Hey weirdo you're in our spot and we don't want you here so move." The biggest boy of the group said as I stopped swinging to glare at him in anger.
"First of all I'm not weird and second I was here first so I shouldn't have to go anywhere, beside there are plenty of swings to play on so I'm not moving." I said sticking my tongue out at the bully when suddenly I was pushed from behind causing me to fall onto the ground which was still muddy from the night before and to my horror got my dress all muddy.
"I'm telling you big bullies!" I shouted running to find the teacher as they erupted into laughter behind me.
Finally I found Ms Jones talking to Ms Noel who looked shocked at whatever Ms Jones had said, I was about to interrupt them politely when suddenly Ms Jones said,
"You don't know what she's like Jamie, Elliana Jakenson is a back talking know it all and I don't know how long I can stand having her in my class."
I didn't even wait to get over then shock or hurt I just jumped out from where I'd been listening surprising both teachers but especially Ms Jones.
"I am not a back talking know it all, maybe if you were a good teacher like Ms Noel you'd see that!" I yelled running of before either teacher could catch me.
Even now as I look back I'm not sure how I made it all the way home especially when my school was so far away but somehow I ended up on my front porch unlocking the door with the key my dad always hid under the mat even those this was a whole new key. I'd just entered the house shutting door tightly when I heard someone coming down the stairs and saw my sister who stared at me looking surprised to see me as I nearly slapped myself for having forgotten that the high school  had a half day.
"Look weirdo I don't know why or how you got here but I know that our parents are going to be very interested especially dad, in fact I'm calling him right now!" Sam yelled tauntingly running upstairs to get her phone to call dad before I could even move.
My eyes widened in horror at the thought of how angry my dad would be when Sam called him especially when he had to leave work early, I didn't wait for Sam to finish her call before I ran out the door and down the street barely hearing Sam yell out her window that I was in even more trouble as I ran as fast as I could even running across the street when I got to the end of my own and luckily not getting hit by a car. Finally when I was too out of breath to run I stopped and looked up to see where I was, as I did so I saw that I had stopped in front of an old abandon house which was odd because the houses on each side of it were really nice. Curiosity and the need of a place to hide finally got the best of me and I decided to go inside, to my surprise the inside of the house was really nice and as I wandered around I was even more surprised when I bumped into what looked like a fourteen year old boy in a black shirt and blue jeans with odd red colored eyes and sort of spiky black hair.

"Um hello who are you mister, do you live here?" I asked politely not feeling the least bit scared which seemed to surprise him
"I'm the vampire Fang or at least that is what I call myself, what are you doing here?" "Fang" asked as I smiled and held out one of my hands for him to shake.
"Hello Fang, nice to meet you. I'm sorry I came in uninvited but I ran away from school because of something I heard my teacher say about me and because of bullies, so if I could hide here so my dad can't find me and my sister doesn't say that my day went bad because I'm a weirdo I'd appreciate it." I said in one big breath as Fang blinked and chuckled.
"You do realize that I've just told you that I'm a vampire right which means I could kill you if I chose to, but tell me little one what is your  name and why would your own sister call you a weirdo?" Fang asked chuckling stopping when he saw tears in my eyes.
"I don't have friends that's why, I'm too weird to make any but as for you being a vampire I think it's cool I got to meet one, I'm Ellie by the way." I said sniffing surprised when Fang wiped the tears away.
"Forgive me Ellie I didn't mean to make you cry, I shall be your friend and as for the teacher and bullies that hurt you… I shall make sure they don't do so again." Fang said as my eyes brightened and to his surprise I hugged him tightly though he hugged me back with a smile.
"Really Fang, will you really be my friend?" I asked receiving a chuckle as Fang set me down looking amused that I hadn't commented on the last few things he'd said.
"Yes my Ellie I shall, now let's put you close to home or your parents will worry." Fang said hugging me on last time before I was suddenly and mysteriously outside in a neighbor's yard behind a bush where my very worried father found me.
I wound up getting no dessert for a month as a punishment for leaving school early which of course was "unfair" to Sam and yet I really didn't care especially because the next morning when I got to school I found out that Ms Jones had "vanished" and we had a sub and also the bullies that had been sitting by my were oddly scared of me and were really nice to me, but I didn't really notice their strange niceness because I was far to worried about my new friend Fang, I couldn't wait to thank him either because latter one of the nice girls that had been in the group of bullies by force wanted to be my new friend too because "someone"… an older boy had told her I was really nice.
This is just a little story I came up with, this is the first short story of a book I indend on writting some time in my life. Hope you enjoy.
